John Hardy speaking in Singapore

DO: Come see John Hardy speak in Singapore

We would like to invite you to a very special event: an evening with John Hardy: environmentalist, sustainability advocate, designer and co-founder of Green School Bali. Come hear how John is building his vision of a greener world through education and design. This will be an amazing opportunity to learn how sustainability and green education can be integrated into curriculum. Students, teachers and principals will see how teaching sustainability and green living will prepare students to be agents of positive change. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art & Design, John set off to travel the world and settled in Bali, Indonesia. In 1975, he started a small jewelry business that grew into an international company. In 2007, John stopped working in the company to dedicate his time to advocating for and building a more sustainable world through education and design. John Hardy at HATCH 2015 with Will Travers

Becoming a HATCHer in Montana

“Yarrow Kraner, Will Travers and bears. What more could you want? The conference was intimate, loving- more loving that any conference I’ve ever been at. Full of mentoring, knowledge. I did a wonderful interview with Will Travers about life and times. If you haven’t been to HATCH, apply. It is magical. We didn’t see any bears, but we did see footprints and scat, though. Apparently you can track animals using that.” HATCH is the creation of Yarrow Kraner.  The annual HATCH experience is an invite-only 3.5 day summit for 100 carefully selected thought leaders from around the world brought together in the mountains of Montana. The carefully curated group of innovators is comprised of disruptors, inventors, grammy-winning musicians, filmmakers, technologists, CEOs, social impact change makers, educators, designers, and more. HATCH is a peer-to-peer mentorship mash-up summit where ideas, insights and inspiration are exchanged and activated from diverse disciplines and industries. Programming includes interactive prototype workshops, talks, live music, short film screenings, and think tanks, where guests apply their insights to real world problems and rapid …

Recorded at INK2011, Jaipur, India: Dreaming green From bamboo swimming pools to homegrown lunches, every aspect of John Hardy’s Green School strives to be a model of sustainability. But being green isn’t easy, and it doesn’t always work on the first try. Hardy humorously recounts how, step by step, he’s realized his dream of building a green community. Hardy’s efforts are having a ripple effect amongst the local Balinese, as more and more people adopt his mentality of livable sustainability.
